RFCFD-358 - File paths can't have unicode characters on macOS. RFCFD-580 - Mesh fluid/emitter weight vertex map computation is limited to a maximum amount of 10. RFCFD-517 - Initial State files created in RealFlow | Cinema 4D 1.0 are not compatible with 2.0 version due to the switch from RPC to Alembic. RFCFD-351 - Array Tool: Parameters can't be animated for meshes. The collision geometry could get out of sync with the real geometry in animations under some circumstances. Since fluid simulations are computationally expensive and allocate large amounts of disk space we recommend Intel® i7 or Xeon systems (or comparable), 16 GB RAM (or more) and a 512 GB hard disk drive/SDD. RealFlow | Cinema 4D supports GPU-based simulations and multi-core/multi-processor systems.

The other thing is, that im bound to the number of my houdini engine licenses when im using HDA what is also a big problem for me. Also i can't see the vertex map inside of my viewport. That means i can use the Vertex Map inside a shader, but i can't use the Map for generating other stuff like vertex based TFD simulation (wich is what i need to do, heat based smoke emission). (import HDA, duplicate object below the asset wich is referring to my mesh, collapse it, copy the vertex map onto the uncollapsed object, and then it works. I desperately need to get my temperature colour onto my mesh.

I can export it via Alembic or as HDA an i got my sim and everything looks fine, so heres the kicker. I got a Lavasim wich i NEED to render in c4d. But i got a question regarding getting dynamic topology from houdini to c4d as well. Im not sure whether this thread is already closed or not. It will create a TP group for you to work with if needed but be careful since a lot of particles causes Cinema4d to take a shit.not the ideal workflow but ok in a pinch if you need it for medium size sims. This also works with particle simulations.

  • Remove any scene items you don't need and you should have an animated mesh in your scene.
  • ABC file and click OK when the Alembic Dialog opens.
  • Click Export and allow Houdini to run the simulation (if needed) and export.
  • Click Accept Pattern to close the Source Object dialog.
  • Select all of the elements you wish to include in your ABC file.
  • Click the icon next to the input field under Source Objects.
  • Specify the frame range you wish to include.
  • I did a quick test with just a wave tank converted to polygons via VDB and exported it as Alembic and it loaded just fine in C4d (R17).
